The Ardhin (Part Nim)
Chess of the Republic
How Chess was played During the Time of the Story.
Chess of the Republic was played exactly the same as its played currently BUT we have one piece missing in today’s game: the Politician.
Its common chess knowledge that whoever holds the 4 center squares on the chess board controls the game.
In Chess of the Republic, at the start of the game, both sides have 2 Politicians each. These Politicians are placed (on their side of the board) in the 4 center squares on the board. The Politicians can move one space freely in any direction (like the King) but have no power to attack or remove another piece from the board, but they can be attacked and removed by any piece on the board.
The only pieces the Politician can attack is the King or the Queen.
During any game, the Politician will be quite the nuisance but at the same time dangerously sneaky.
Nasaru Nia
Nasaru Nia is eldest Sepsu Translator. There are no Masters or Teachers in the Sepsu, only Translators.
A Translator is one who has become so familiar with the Sepsu Arts that they have the unique ability to explain the most complex concepts in a simple way that anyone can understand it.
The soothing gift of the Translator is to truly comprehend someone and then be able to put that person at ease or guide them to an epiphany.
Anyone can request to join the Sepsu Order to learn and master the Sepsu Arts much like one learns and masters Martial Arts.
The Sepsu Order is NOT a religion or cult but a way of life. Members of Sepsu study and master the Sepsu Arts by following specific procedures and following a charted path to a higher level of existence.
The stated goal of the Sepsu Order is: To navigate life successfully while making the world a better place.
The Sepsu Arts are practice at-will, with no memberships, indoctrination or inhiation and anyone can come and go as they please.
The Sepsu Arts are NOT superpowers, and a person is not necessarily or naturally born with the skills (though it was commonly reported that many young children of the time, start their lives with some - if not all of these abilities and skills).
The Sepsu Arts can be broken down into 4 categories:
The Forbidden Methods - (a simple moral code)
Abilities - (are natural talents which can be improved upon)
Skills - (Can be taught, learned and mastered)
Attainment (Levels)
The Abilities include some of the following and each ability has multiple proficiently levels:
Empathy - The ability to correctly sense and know the emotions or condition or feelings of living things.
Projection - The ability to create and project what one wants others to see - not what is really there. (A form of illusion). Having a “Social Mask” is the lowest level of projection.
Piercing the Social Mask - Is the ability to see right through a person and see them for who they really are. This helps one avoid dealing with two-faced people, con-artists, psychopaths, shape shifters or anyone else pretending to be someone they're not. This is also known as Piercing the Projection.
Perception - The ability to clearly sense and know what is actually there in the current environment without any assumptions or personal additives. This skill is especially useful in investigations and helps in the prediction of what may or may not happen next (Clairvoyance)
Charm and Persuasion
The Skills include some of the following and each skill has multiple proficiently levels:
Telepathy (Whisper) - The skill to give or receive thoughts or ideas or have full conversations without verbally speaking. Telepathy is the universal language.
Energy Harnessing - Drawing power from an energy source in the environment and redirecting it for personal use. (i.e., the common occurrence of draining the batteries of a ghost hunter’s video camera or what some call Chi).
Telekinesis - The skill to move objects without touching them (poltergeists have mastered this).
Levitation - A higher form of telekinesis with the additional skill of being able to hold an object up in space.
Puppeteering - The skill to animate and control objects such as dolls, robots or lower life forms. It’s the highest form of Telekinesis.
Pyrokinesis - The skill to generate either heat or actual fire without the use of objects by means of Energy Harnessing. (One without this ability is sometimes jokingly called a “stick-rubber”).
Suggestion - The skill to get what one wishes for. The power of suggestion. (Witchcraft, spells, voodoo or hypnotism is an attempt to do this).
Thought/Intention Perception - The skill to be able to perceive and know the thoughts and intentions of others. Sometimes confused with mind reading. No one can read a mind but someone can perceive and know someone else’s thoughts and intentions This is one of the easier skills to master - as long as the student can get over doubting themselves when it happens.
Healing - This skill comes in many forms. (i.e., Cajun Traiteurs or Cunning Folk).
Basic Physical Sepsu requirements: One is healthy and fit for their age, free from mind altering substances, free from any addictions and is literate with a willingness to improve.
The Sepsu Levels Attained are:
Independent - One is able to be their own judge, make their own decisions, manage their own life and can’t be manipulated by others.
Wholeness - One is following their own personal moral code and keeping their integrity intact.
Peacefulness - There is no self-generated turmoil.
Tranquility - One is happy or content and very comfortable in one’s own skin.
Free Speach - One is able to speak openly and freely on any subject if they so wish.
Muse - One is in touch with their creative side or personal goal and inspired.
Mimic-less - One is able to be themselves. They no longer mimic or act like someone else.
Certainty - One is confident in and with life and comfortable with being right or wrong or unsure.
Calmness - There are no other “voices” in one’s head. A person only has their own voice/one’s own thoughts.
Latitude - One has no compulsions but now has complete freedom of action and choice.
Enlightenment - No one tells you when you reach this state. You just know. It takes as long as it takes.
Reminiscence - One is free from any unwanted amnesia.
Liberation - Able to enter and exit Matter at-will.
Inhabitation - Mastered the co-existing with Matter.
The Sepsu Arts
Enlighten the people generally, and tyranny and oppressions of body and mind will vanish like evil spirits at the dawn of day.

Make a world you can be proud of. - Nasaru Nia
The Sepsu Forbidden Methods
Our Code of Forbidden Methods are as follows:
1. To never Trick or confuse the innocent. I promise to never use “stimulating entertainment” or “false ambitions” or the desire to “please the senses” to distract an innocent person or myself from what is really going on.
2. To never twist or hide the truth from the innocent. I promise to never deprive an individual or myself of basic knowledge, logic, reason or education. I will not twist or hide the truth of these subjects with the intention of creating an illogical or unethical thought process in an individual or myself. I will not twist or hide the truth of these subjects for my personal gain.
I understand that if a person’s thought process is twisted, this then makes the person a continuous threat or disturbance to all.
3. To never trick the innocent into slavery or criminality. I will never secure the shackles of greed by promoting the need for “great wealth” over the desire for happiness, knowledge or improving the world. I will never rob an innocent person or myself of independence and liberty through unresolvable debt or by the means of a simple bribe of “subsidy” as a means of their survival.
4. To never mentally destroy an innocent person. I will never make a person or myself mentally unfit or mentally illogical by mental manipulation. I will never “over medicate” them or myself or use mind altering drugs.
5. To never feed the fire of confusion. I promise to never fuel the fire or confusion with tricky tactics that are used to keep myself or others feuding, divided, stirred-up, unable to organize or unable to think clearly.
7. To never create division by “labeling” every person, movement or thought. I myself, will remain without a social or political label and will remain a free and independent thinker who will not be put into to a labeled box of any kind nor be a part of a faction. I will remain labelless.
8. I will refrain from “thinking out loud”. I will not pollute written or verbal communication by insisting that thinking out loud, slander, poor manners or “speaking before one thinks” is the purpose behind one’s native right of freedom of speech. I understand the deference between thinking out loud and freedom of speech.
9. To never keep harmful secrets from the innocent or destroy, one’s friends and one’s family.
10. To never abuse our powers. I will never use my powers to rob a person or myself of freedom by means of economic or material captivity, spiritual slavery or mental imprisonment.
People do not need firm control by a select few but can govern themselves if they so wish. - Nasaru Nia
An Elite group of individuals are selected to be Nasaru: The Guardians of the Sepsu Order. The Nasaru are not known for violence, but they can hold their own if it comes to that. The Nasaru are better known to “outwit” their opponent and to cleverly handle any challenge they face - like a game of chess.
The Nasaru (Guardians of the Sepsu Order)
Cautiously make peaceful contact.
Defuse the situation by having compassion and understanding of the persons circumstances.
Bring the current situation to a peaceful conclusion.
Disarm and detain as or if needed.
Nasaru Rules of Engagement:
Coup = A cleaver move
It’s an old Nasaru belief that any fool or even a chimpanzee can shoot a gun or end a life BUT to NOT end a life when you had every chance to or every reason to AND still get what you want is very CLEVER. This tradition is by no means mercy, in fact it can been seen as even more cruel than death since it humiliates and degrades the soul of one’s enemy forever.
The Nasaru keeps score (count) and are very competitive between each other.
The Nasaru get a Coup (a point) in one of 2 ways but to make it official one has to physically “touch” the opponent.
A Nasaru has been put in a situation where he/she can kill but instead just touches the enemy and gets way = 1 Coup (point).
Outwit the enemies’ defenses, touch the leader and get away. In an effort to persuade the enemy of defeat before it even starts = 1 Coup (point).
Nasaru tradition of Counting Coup (koo):
Nasaru Pack Dynamics:
Pooling resources, teamwork, symbiotic relationships, friendships and the cohesion of families only strengthen the Nasaru pack.
There is a deference between thinking out loud and freedom of speech. Thinking out loud is passing social gas. - Nasaru Nia
Sepsu Arts
Basic Principles
Mass (Matter) and Spiritual Energy are two forces at work in this universe.
Matter needs Spiritual Energy.
Spiritual Energy is senior to Matter.
Spiritual Energy doesn’t need Matter but can enjoy it.
Imbalance of Matter and Spiritual Energy causes a negative effect.
Matter and Spiritual Energy can exist in harmony.
Matter and Spiritual Energy can exist separately.
Spiritual Energy can have a compulsion to interact with Matter.
Spiritual Energy can be trapped in or consumed by Matter.
Spiritual Energy connecting to Matter is inhabitation of Matter.
Spiritual Energy separated from Matter is liberation from Matter.
Those who practice the Sepsu Arts overcome the compulsion, harness and control one’s own spiritual energy, master both inhabitation and liberation.
